Course Overview
Microbiology is the study of living organisms that are too small to be seen by the naked eye. Knowledge in microbiology is important in improving the quality of life in terms of health, environment and food production. It also plays a main role in genetic engineering and other modern biotechnologies. In this program, students will learn the fundamentals in microbiology and the roles and applications of microorganisms in agriculture, environment, industry and medicine. Students can choose to specialise in any of the three following tracks:
Track A : Agriculture &Environment Microbiology
Track B : Industrial Microbiology
Track C : Medical Microbiology
Microbiology graduates can seek employment as microbiologists, biotechnologists, science officers, research and development, quality control and assurance personnel, biosafety officer, and educationists.Entry Requirements
- Pass at SPM level/ equivalent. (credit in Bahasa Melayu and a pass in History subject)
- Pass STPM with at least CGPA 2.00. (Grade C in General Studies)
- Pass Matriculation / Foundation with at least CGPA 2.00. (UITM Foundation / Science Foundation)
- Pass Diploma with at least CGPA 2.00. (UiTM or other university recognized by Malaysia Government)
- Obtained at least Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
