Programme Details

The curriculum of this three-year programme is designed to provide a strong background in chemistry. Particular emphasis is placed on analytical methods applicable in forensic laboratories. Students will be exposed to specialised areas in forensic science, which include arson, explosives, and documents analysis, forensic serology and DNA analysis and toxicology. They will also learn how evidence is recovered from the crime scene and presented in court.

Accreditation

Graduates of this programme will be eligible to register as chemists with the Institut Kimia Malaysia (Chemical Institute of Malaysia).

Opportunities for Further Studies

Graduates of this programme may pursue their studies at the postgraduate level in chemistry, forensic chemistry and chemistry-related fields such as forensic science, biotechnology and material science.
